Proposal portal open from ocotber 1-7 2026 for residency in 2027

4 different residencies take place the last 3 weeks of january, april, july & october each year - with the option to make it a full month.

5 artists are offered a full month surrounding those three weeks to arrive and depart as their schedule allows.

residencies include time, space & lodging at no expense to the artist. linens and towels provided. this offering acknowledges that for an artist, finding a month within the capitalist structure to focus on their work is an expense - in the future we hope to offer a stipend & meals as well. sometimes a chef is in residence or involved out of their own desire to expand their practice - but at this time this is not a permanent offering. if you are interested in such an opportunity please submit during the proposal window or come to a whp open house.

the open house takes place the last sunday of the month & is an opportunity for the public to see what has transpired onsite during the residency - times and dates of these occurrences are listed on the event link.

the application portal will be made available - through the website, october newsletter and the ig bio - october 1-7 2026 for residency in 2027.

we also offer what we call micro residencies (3-10 days) which are scheduled during the proposal period (oct 1-7, 2026) and sometimes on the fly via face to face encounters - so if you have not yet met us, come to an open house or schedule a site visit. you are also welcome to propose during the proposal period and specify that you are interested in a shorter residency.
